How to prepare a Hard Drive for Microsoft SQL Database Storage


It is well documented that Microsoft SQL Databases should be located on a drive that has no other applications or services attached to it.
This means create or relocated your Microsoft SQL Database to an EMPTY HARD DRIVEĀ that has been formatted as directed below.


I recommend that you at least Mirror the Drive (Raid 1) as a minimum.
It is also recommended that you format this drive with 64k blocks (Allocation Units)
